About Ghaz

What we like about Ghaz is how little it tries to be everything — it does book cover typography, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Decorative and Dingbat Fonts shelf. It is pavel's work. It stands at 5.0 out of 5 across 1 review, and we read the low scores first when there are any. 1 save means nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

The obvious job for it is book spine font, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. Set the headline you actually want in the preview before deciding it carries more. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether book cover typography is really what you are getting.

Type cover art, dust jacket design, editorial headline and independent design into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Judged against the requests we see — blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. We filed it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. People after this usually search decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
