About Coquette Divider

This is the one we reach for when the request is background fonts. Coquette Divider keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. The designer behind it is CraftedType Studio. 86 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.

The obvious job for it is beauty fonts, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. Check which characters really exist: decorative sets often stop at the capitals, and you find out when you need an ampersand. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Search for botanical fonts, circuit fonts, clipart fonts and craft fonts and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same font, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. The same shelf also answers to decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour, so widen the search there before giving up on it. Judged against the requests we see — blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. We filed it under Decorative and Dingbat Fonts for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
