About Chrome Lights

Chrome Lights earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to abc, and straight answers are rarer in this font catalogue than you would think. Only 96 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. Gleb Guralnyk made it. It stands at 5.0 out of 5 across 1 review, and we read the low scores first when there are any.

We keep it filed mentally under alphabet, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. Check which characters really exist: decorative sets often stop at the capitals, and you find out when you need an ampersand. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

If you came in looking for aluminum, bevel and bold, you are in the right place — the listing carries all of those, which is the clearest sign the designer built it for that job rather than retitled it afterwards. It is shelved with the rest of the decorative and dingbat fonts, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. People after this usually search decorative, dingbat, blackletter, colorful and colour too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place. We track what people actually type before they land here: blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut. If that is roughly what you were after, this font is in the right family.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
