About Baronial

Ask for album covers and you get a hundred near-misses; Baronial is one of the few that answers the question as asked. It is Burntilldead's work. The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 on 1 review, which is better evidence than the thumbnail. With 33 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size.

We keep it filed mentally under blackletter, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. A decorative face carries one word, maybe two. If you are tempted to set a whole headline in it, set it in the preview first and see what happens. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Type blackletter font, blackletter typeface, book titles and branding into the search above and this one comes back — the same font under four different habits of phrasing. Judged against the requests we see — blackletter font pairing, cinzel decorative font pairing, decorative script fonts, modern blackletter fonts and monogram fonts for cricut — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. Its home here is Decorative and Dingbat Fonts — open that shelf if you would rather compare a few before choosing. The same shelf also answers to decorative, dingbat, colorful, colour and ornament, so widen the search there before giving up on it.

How to use this font

  1. Download the font from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — you normally get OTF and TTF of the same face, plus a licence file.
  2. Install the OTF if your software gives you the choice: it carries the alternates and ligatures that make a script face look handwritten.
  3. Restart the app you design in — Canva, Photoshop, Cricut Design Space and Word all read the font list once, at launch.
  4. Read the licence before a paid job: personal and commercial use are priced apart, and a logo often needs the extended one.
